SmartHomes Now! Blog is back!  For this week, we’re putting the spotlight on the Sentio Headphones and the top-of-line D-Link Surveillance cameras.

Sentio Headphones is a Kickstarter project and it is worth checking out.

This  headphone contains 2 speakers per ear cup (30mm and 50mm) an promises to  offer the ultimate 3D sound experience.  While most headphones are made of plastic and rubber and some metal, the Sentio is manufactured in stainless steel and aluminium.

What makes Sentio truly one-of-a-kind is its adaptable functionality. With a simple turn you can enjoy either an open or closed back sound whenever you want.

Closed back headphones are great for noisy environments that you want to escape from and for quiet environments that you don’t want to intrude on. And open back headphone  speaker is mounted in a perforated ear cup that enables air (and thus sound) to pass through freely. This provides a natural and airy sound, with an audio awareness of what’s happening around you. Open back headphones are better at reproducing a spacious sound, as if you are enjoying a concert.

As mentioned earlier, its currently on Kickstarter and it could use more pledges to get it out there. Go to Kickstarter.com or click here for more information.

Next is the D-Link Professional  IP Surveillance Cameras. If you ever need to have the top-of-the-line surveillance cameras for your home or to monitor your neighborhood, these cameras could fit the bill.

The 5-Megapixel Dome Network Camera (DCS-6517) and the 5-Megapixel Bullet Network Camera (DCS-7517) support  2560×1920 resolution and digital WDR image enhancement. What’s great about them is they can capture further detail than traditional IP cameras, which is especially useful when viewing items such as vehicle license plates, faces and currency.

The cameras’ digital wide dynamic range (WDR) video enhancement provides improved image quality in environments with uneven or difficult lighting, allowing easy identification of subjects that are backlit or in brightly lit areas. In low-light situations, the IR cut filter automatically slides out of the way to use all available light. Both cameras also have built-in IR LED illuminators, allowing the cameras to keep watch even in complete darkness.

And these surveillance cameras have weatherproof housings plus they have  built-in heating and cooling capabilities to ensure reliable operation from -40 degrees F to 122 degrees F. In addition, the DCS-6517 dome camera offers IK10 vandal-proof housing to protect it from damage when mounted in public areas.
