We’ve featured the Intel Compute Stick and the Asus Chromebit that can turn your HDMI TV into a computer.

But these USB-stick-dongle computers are a tad limited when it comes to OS capability.

What if you can cram a full featured Windows 10 computer with USB slots into a slightly bigger form factor? Not possible right? Well  they just unveiled one at Computex, Asia’s largest computer and technology show.

Quanta, a third-party Taiwanese manufacturer, came out with the  Compute Plug. Instead of attaching it directly to a TV with an HDMI port, the Compute Plug attaches to a wall outlet. You then attach the HDMI cable to a compliant TV.

According to the reports that we got from the Net, the Compute Plug is full featured as it integrates two USB 3.0 ports. Since it has the form factor of a wall charger, they could cram in more processing power. We’re thinking that it could have better processing  power than the Compute stick. That means a better CPU, more RAM (2GB?) and a bigger flash storage.

Microsoft calls it a Mini PC and power Adapter in one. You’ll need to connect a bluetooth interface and   Microsoft’s PDA interface Cortana to control it.

Would we be interested to use it? Well, the Intel Compute Stick is a more convenient device to use. You just plug it into a HDMI display and you can turn it into a computer. But it’s a not a full featured computer without Windows.

The Quanta Compute Plug is Windows 10 computer  and that could mean that it could run Windows software and other applications.

Now if it were only as cheap as the US$9 C.H.I.P. computer that we featured here on the site, then this would be an awesome PC. But we don’t think so. Still if the Compute Plug rolls out and it’s cheaper than a Netbook, home owners can turn their HDMI TVs into smarter computers.

Still an awesome idea. We hope it happens.
