It’s June already. Half of 2015 is already over and we’ve seen a ton of great smart home technologies and product launches.

What technologies and products are we excited the most?

Check them out below:

Virtual Reality and Gesture Control

Imagine being at your home and you’re playing a game. It’s a full immersion 3D game. You interact with it, just like in the real world. Turning and tilting your head and the game responds. You move your hands and fingers to interact with the virtual reality world and it responds.

The Microsoft Hololens upgrades the VR experience with Holographic Computing integrating home, entertainment and work applications seamlessly

We know this isn’t happening yet but we’re getting closer. Virtual Reality, a technology that we thought was never going to have any real use, is making a comeback. VR headsets now have better graphic processing capabilities and better head and movement tracking. There’s Oculus, Sony’s Project Morpheus and Microsoft’s Hololens. They’re all bringing innovation and perhaps even evolutionary technology for VR.

Google’s Project Soli, its advanced gesture control uses radar waves to track minute movements. This could be the key to make VR immersion complete.

In a few years, users will be able to use VR for entertainment and even education.

It could revolutionize media consumption completely.

Smart Home Automation Kits

We’re impressed with the companies and engineers who keep coming up with Smart Automation kits. Littlebits came out with their easy programmable home automation kit. CES 2015 proved that Smart Home Automation is on it way. There’s Chamberlain Notifi which is a doorbell but integrates a security camera and LED light sensor.

We’ve featured the Hive which is an automation, home security and home entertainment hub. It controls lights, sensors, cameras and even speakers that come with it.

But automation isn’t just about home security and safety.

Noocity has created the Growbed, its first self-contained, self-watering and self-fertilizing (optional) gardening system.

Now we’ve tried gardening ourselves and it isn’t easy. The Growbed makes growing vegetables and fruit plants easier. Check out our story here.

Smart Home Power

Solar and Wind Power are awesome renewable energies smart homes should start tapping into.

The Philippines has a bevy of companies that provide solar and wind power installations for the home. It’s still expensive to get but in the long run, it’ll save you money. Wait for a couple of more years and these renewable energy systems will be less expensive.

And it also helps that Tesla Motors is getting into the renewable energy systems for the home. They came out with Powerwall, a renewable energy battery system that can run homes.

Several years from now, we’ll have our homes running on intelligent home security and safety systems. Years from now, VR headsets will be the norm for smart home enterainment.
Within that time, everything electronic will run on renewable energy.

The future is looking bright and Smart Homes Now will be ones to tell you all about it.
