Star Trek, that awesome sci-fi series, basically pioneered a ton of cool futuristic concepts. One of the coolest things they came up with is the matter replicator.  In the show, they were originally used to synthesize meals on demand.

The Star Trek future  is still 136 from now (based on the first Enterprise timeline which is 2151, nerds) but today we’re one step closer to it.  XYZ Printing just came out with a 3D Printer that can “print” out real food.  It uses special containers for ingredients for cookies, pizzas and other delectable desserts.

It looks pretty amazing and it can still print out bigger food items. You’ll still need to cook the printed out food though but we’re pretty sure that they’ll come out with one that print  cooked food already.
