We’re pretty sure you know what phantom loading is. How about Standby Power? Did you know that letting your appliances go on Standby Power still consumes electricity?

Not only that, but there are incidences that appliances on Standby Power have caused fires.

It’s one of the evils that we have to live with in this electronic age. The only thing that you can do is unplug your appliances completely from the outlet. But sometimes, we forget things or we chose to ignore them.
But there are devices that cut phantom load completely and ASMO Phone Charger is one of them. We found this little knick-knack on Indiegogo and from the get-go, we’re pretty impressed with it.

The ASMO Charger is a fully automatic working charger that does not waste any electricity on standby. The makers of the ASMO say that it  saves your electricity and makes your home more fire-safe.

ASMO Charger works like your regular smartphone charger. If your phone has USB On-The-Go feature, ASMO Charger starts up immediately. Plug in the device into the charger and that’s it.

If your smartphone doesn’t have it, then all you need to do is press the button on the ASMO charger to start charging. It will shut down/de-power once the phone is completely charged or unplugged from the device.

It’s a Charge and Forget Device. According to the ASMO charger developers, you won’t need to unplug it from a wall socket…ever. Check out its video below.

And to top it off, it’s made from Finland. Things made in Finland are almost indestructible. Just like the Nokia phones. Just kidding but it only means that these things will last years.

This power device also charges devices twice as fast. I wonder if it’ll work with the Couchlet, the Cove that we featured here in Smart Homes Now.

We’ll need to put this to the test once we get our own ASMO Charger.

It has already met its funding goal on Indieogo so it’ll be available to backers this August.
