LG Philippines has been pretty busy this past month. It launched the Philippines’ biggest Super Ultra HDTV.

Their innovations continue as they released the LG G4, its latest top-of-the-line smartphone.

While most smartphones sport the same flat, straight line designs, the LG G4 breaks that mold with its Slim Arc design.

Instead of the using sleek straight lines, the LG G4 has a subtle curvature running along its entire body.
The Slim Arc design promises to offer more durability than a flat smartphone in face-down drops.

While most phones have Quantum or Retina displays, the LG G4 sports a 5.5-inch Quad HD IPS Quantum Display (2560 x 1440, 538ppi)
The IPS Quantum has a better, brighter display. It offers 20 % greater color reproduction. The Quad HD IPS Quantum Display also has a brighter display and 50% greater contrast.

It needs that kind of display to complement the rear 16-megapixel camera in the LG G4.

The camera module features an industry-first wide F1.8 aperture lens. The smaller aperture allows 80 percent more light to reach the sensor. Even in low-light conditions, this smartphone can deliver as it integrates OIS 2.0.

It expands the angle of image stabilization from one degree to two degrees on the X- and Y-axis and adding a third axis for the first time.

LG’s camera also integrates DSLR capabilities. Its Manual Mode lets users control focus, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation. Even white balance. On top of that, it offers to save photos in JPEG and raw format; the latter allows for more precise editing with no loss of details.

The LG G4’s camera has Color Spectrum Sensor (CSS), to improve color accuracy. It is a feature rarely (perhaps not even) found in smartphones. And if you’re fond of taking selfies, well, the LG G4 has an 8MP front facing camera.

It also packs in a number of great built-in mobile phone applications to make your life even more organized.

With the camera features and a better and brighter display, you’ll need better batteries.
The G4 comes with a high-capacity 3,000mAh removable battery, uncommon in today’s high-end smartphones.

LG G4 spared no expense to make their cameras look good. The LG G4 smartphones are availabe in Ceramic White, with 3D patterns, Metallic Gray and Shiny Gold editions.

This Leather Edition is a joy to hold, well-made, hand crafted and even environment friendly.

This Leather Edition is a joy to hold, well-made, hand crafted and even environment friendly.

But we love the Leather-clad variant. This edition has a genuine hand-crafted leather rear cover. And it’s even environment-friendly as it is vegetable tanned.

Our initial hands-on with the LG G4? It felt light and the Slim Arc worked well. It feels far more natural to hold. The touch display is downright responsive. We put in a few photos, tested it and it worked beautifully.

The ceramic and metallic variants retail for P31,990 while the leather variant is P32,990.

We’ll have the full review in the coming weeks so stay tuned.
