Here’s another great story.  Samsung just provided Solar lamps to communities who do not have access to electricity.  And yes, there are still villages and areas in the Philippines that don’t have electricity or water.

Samsung Electronics Philippines was recognized by World Wildlife Fund-Philippines for its environment conservation programs at the 2015 Environmental Leadership Awards held last November 3. Samsung was lauded for its efforts to help communities in Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, and Cagayan. They provided provide solar lamps to schoolchildren who live in homes that do not have access to electricity.

The recognition was handed by WWF-Philippines Chairman Vince Perez and WWF President Joel Palma during the WWF Partners' Night at Fairmont Hotel in Makati City. Photo shows Samsung Public Affairs Head Arlita Tayko Narag receiving the award.

These solar lamps enable the students to study when they get home at night, helping them improve their academic performance. Samsung was also recognized for its coastal rehabilitation efforts, which mirror the company’s commitment to support initiatives that promote sustainability and environmental conservation.

We hope to hear more stories of companies doing their share to provide sustainable and renewable energy solutions to make people’s lives easier.
