PLDT Home just unveiled their latest TVolution product and it’s an Intel Compute Stick.
We’ve featured this great PC on a USB stick before and we’re pretty impressed with it.
The TVolution Stick has pre-bundled applications and access to iFlix and Fox Channels Video on Demand service. To run it, users will only need to plug it into the an HDTV’s HDMI port. While other USB stick devices let users stream content onto their HDTV, the TVolution Stick does more.
PLDT Home’s newest Tvolution Stick is for all intents and purposes the Intel Compute Stick. It’s a Windows 8.1 computer and integrates Wi-Fi. It’s powered by a quad-core Intel Atom processor and Intel HD graphics chip set. It packs in 32 GB of Flash storage, 2GB of memory, a USB 2.0 port and a Micro SD slot. Users will not only be able to browse the Internet, they’ll be able to play video from other sources, do some light editing, and use MS Office applications. It will even allow users to play browsers game and a number of Microsoft Xbox Live games. The TVolution Stick will be packaged with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
While it won’t be running graphics intensive applications, the Tvolution Stick’s capabilities are decent. The PLDT and Intel officials played videos, ran Powerpoint and played an Xbox Live racing game. Gamers will be able to connect their Xbox controllers to the TVolution Stick as well.
Starting this October 10 until November 30, new subscribers of DSL Plans 999 and up and all PLDT Home Fibr plans who apply online will get the this Computer on a USB Stick free.
We think it’s a great way to launch and get the Intel Compute Stick into Filipino homes.
